After spending almost all of last week in the hospital to hook Maxwell up with a feeding tube in his nose I think things are going rather well. Last night was the first night back from the hospital. It took me about an hour to get the I.V. stand, pump, and milk bag put together and working properly. I had to actually put something under the pump cord to hold it up so it would stay in the outlet. It all seemed to work fine. There was no spilled milk in his crib, so it didn't leak, which means it all ended up in his stomach. It is kind of nerve racking to have him home and have no help from the nurses if I were to need it. This means that if he pulls his tube out I am the one to put it back in. This nose tube should be able to stay in for up to a month, I think they recomend switching every seven days, as long as he doesn't pull it out.
After a few weeks of having the tube in Maxwell's nose he will go back to the hospital and get a tube placed in his stomach. This means it will be there until the doctors remove it. He can't pull it out and I won't have to worry about putting it back in. It will not be noticeable as well, unlike the tube now. I will take a picture sometime after I get everything settled and post it.
In the mean time I will find some place to put all of the feeding tube supplies and find some time to pack up boxes before he goes back in for his surgery.
