Vegas Timing

I spent the day in Las Vegas yesterday with Maxwell and Abby. Of course the only reason we went to Vegas was for appointments. Not just for Maxwell, Abby had one too. Our first stop was at the GI doctor. He was everything but unimpressed. Which means.....we don't go back until November....and Maxwell doesn't need the g-tube. He was very happy that Maxwell had gained two pounds since the last visit and all without the NG tube. He said that if Maxwell continued to do that good by our next visit then....well, he still won't need the g-tube. So, I am happy to finally have that confirmation that he doesn't need the tube.

After our visit at the GI we took a quick lunch and then headed to the new Pediatrician's office. I tried to plan things around each other and found doctors that were on the same street. So, this means with the new ped. we have 3 doctors within one block of each other. This isn't nearly as nice as Yale where you had to park in one place and all the doctors were in one building....but this is close enough.

The new ped. is from Russia and has a great strong accent. He was more than vigilant and made it known to me quite clear how much he wants us to live in Vegas so he can set up everything for Maxwell, but in the meant time he is going to help us as much as possible. I was much more impressed with him than with the last ped we tried in Pahrump who just didn't seem to really care. I think we might go far with this doctor, or at least until we move again. He was even happy I had just applied for disability for Max.

Both kids were scheduled for shots. Neither kid got shots. Both kids are sick. Both kids have medications and both have stuff to use with the nebulizer they sent us home with. Abby enjoys the fish head mask for her face and Maxwell dosen't have to use it unless he gets worse.

Since the dr. wanted Abby to have a nebulizer treatment and they were running behind as it was, we were quite late to our next appointment. It didn't help that in my haste I took a wrong turn on the way to the next appointment and it takes a half-hour to get there.

Our next appointment was at the Early Intervention with the speech therapist so she could have a look at Maxwell eating. I wasn't concerned that we missed this....it was only going to be for a half-hour and they had scheduled at the last moment. After that was the important appt. with the audiologist who was glad to see us even though we were late. She was able to fit Maxwell with some huggies (or some name similar to that). They hug the hearing aid and help keep the aid from falling off. She also said that it was probably practical that we were not using the H.A. before because he was always laying down and things were making impossible to get good use of them. She agreed with me that now is a good time for him to start again because he can sit up for a longer amount of time and the H.A. can stay in place and won't get messed up so often.

So, we will try the H.A. again and in a few months we will test his hearing with the aids.

As of today Abby has three kids. One is a half gallon milk. The other is a full gallon of milk. The third (conjoined twins) is the Costco lemon juice joined at the neck. My name is now Sally and Sam is my Daddy.
