Slowing down

It is coming to the point where I think dial-up internet would be better than what we are doing. The pages are loading just as slow as they would with dial-up and the connections gives out every few minutes. On the bright side, I spend less time on the internet and focus more on doing important things.

I have been typing a "book" for an author here. She has a previous published work that she says is in the Smithsonian. Apparently she isn't able to type it on the computer so she hires someone to type it. She told me that this is the final typing and it has been typed several times already. She had another lady do most of it and then she (the author) typed some on an old typewriter with keys that don't work. I really don't mind typing for this lady, really I don't, but....it would have saved a ton of time had this thing been saved to a hard-drive or disk.

The author told me this should be the last typing and that she wants to send it to her agent when I get done. I honestly feel very sorry for the agent who has to read through this thing. In a way I even feel sorry for the author. I am embarrassed for her. I have tried to fix the typing errors (she said she proofread but couldn't catch everything) but there are some things I just am not at liberty to change. I can change the typos with no problem, but this author seems to love commas and parenthesis. I have never seen anything like this before. Not to mention there have been a few times where I seriously had to go back a page just to see if I had accidentally typed a page twice because things are repeated quite often.

On the good note, it gives me hope of writing my own book. I used to think a person had to be good at grammar to be taken seriously as an author and get published. I was wrong. I think all you need is a good agent and a good idea. Of course, you do have to be good at some stuff and have a good story and get most of it, but hey, I think, I could, write a book, or two, or three. (I could write a book or two or three).

Sorry, this became a bit of a rant. I just had to get it out.

Funny ending!

You also must remember this "author lady" lives in Nevada. I wouldn't giver her a lot of credit in the grammer and spelling department. I grew up there. I should know.

Yeah, I guess that is true, but you are quite a good writer.
