Abby: "I'll be as tall as you someday Daddy."
Daddy: "Well, maybe not as tall as me, but as tall as Mommy."
Abby: "I'm already as short as Mommy."
Daddy and Abby are looking at a book with a salamander.
Abby: "Daddy, are salamanders slimy?"
Daddy: "Yes, they are."
Abby: "Oh, like Maxwell."
If you haven't notices Abby sometimes says some fun stuff. She has been fun lately. She is still enjoying pre-school and loves to ride the bus. The only trick is getting her excited to walk home on a nice day when her friends get to go in a car.
We received the remnants from the blizzard that swept through Utah. It arrived right after we got back from the bus stop. There was no warning and I had yet to put all of Abby's toys in a safer place. I was thoughtful though and made sure all of the whiffle balls were not outside. I neglected to pick up one. OK, I purposefully left it there. I saw it, I didn't want to pick it up.
Anyhow, about 30 minutes after getting home I checked outside. The stroller I had Maxwell in earlier was gone. Abby's t-ball stand was gone. Abby's 'car' was gone. The baseball will forever be gone. I trudged outside to gather up the objects which had made greater distance on their own then with Abby. I went for the car which was furthest out. I think it was saved only because he fell on its side. This car likes to travel in the wind. I have often found it after a large windstorm out in the ditch. Bringing the car back was a bit harder. It was windy enough that it made it was pretty difficult to just walk, and to have all the sand blowing in my face made it that much less of an ideal task. The stroller was next. It was still standing. I'm still trying to figure out how it got over the steps. Pushing the stroller back to the house was not possible. it is light enough that the wind would just pick it up. So I lifted it, forced it into its fold and sat it next to the car I had retrieved. I decided to also put the trike in the same spot. It never blows anywhere, but I didn't want to chance it. Now, for that t-ball stand. I have no idea where it blew too. I had put it in the safe spot after coming home from the bus stop, but alas, I cannot see it anywhere. I have no idea how far it blew. I keep looking for it anytime we are out driving, but still no color among the dirt.
I had to drive in the wind storm later while taking a church kid home. We were almost to her house when it went dark. You couldn't see anything there was so much dirt around.
This is just a windy place. There are sand dunes throughout the area. We have quite a large one here and several in Death Valley Nat'l Park. Other areas of CA also have a bunch of dunes. These dunes were formed from the wind. The wind blew the sand in and it just piled up. A few of these dunes are singing dunes. I would love to hear them sing in real life. I've only heard it on the video at a visitor's center in CA.
