Maxwell had his evaluation last week for his wheelchair. It really wasn't complicated and both kids ended up with a little toy to take home. The only thing they really needed to do was measure Max and then show us some of options of wheelchairs. Of course, I was only shown two, and I know they are in the business of making money and so therefore they recommended the nicest and probably more expensive one, but hey, my boy can go ahead and get the best, he deserves it at this point. It will look like a glorified stroller, with as many extras we can talk the insurance into. Of course, after I got home I found the wheelchair man had left a message saying that there was a misunderstanding. The insurance company, for reasons I cannot fathom, approved a wheelchair rental for only three months. Since the things need to be fixed with the insurance company it could not ordered right away, but through our PT and the wheelchair guy they should have it all straightened out by this week and if it works out then the wheelchair should hopefully be hear by the end of the month. The PT even said that a rental for this kind of wheelchair is absurd and won't work anyway. What was the insurance thinking anyway, that he would walk in 3 months. He can't even crawl, let alone stand for a long period of time. Of course, miracles do happen, and he very well could be walking in 3 months. Won't that be a surprise!
The weather was nice enough today that I actually strapped Maxwell in the stroller and we walked to the bus stop. it takes about 15-20 minutes to get there. I am very grateful that most of the way is paved, if you could consider it paved. Abby enjoys riding on the bus and it is nice when I can get some fresh air and walk. It is nice to be able to just get outside without it being so windy.
