So, Abby has been busy. She can read Dick and Jane books. Don't we all love those? I remember them in first grade. In kindergarten we learned our letters and there was absolutely no pressure to read, as far as I can remember anyhow. Abby on the other hand has no choice. You better be able to read and write in kindergarten. I am proud of her though and she is proud of herself for being able to read a book.
Now, if I can just get her to let go of the love affair she has with the school nurse. I actually wrote a note to the teacher for tomorrow asking her to stop sending Abby to the nurse. Abby loves the attention, she has learned quite quickly how to get that attention and they will send her to the nurse for anything. In fact, when she complained of a hot tongue they sent her to the nurse, where she stayed for 15 minutes. Want to know what made her tongue hot? Pepper. That's right folks, they sent her to the nurse because pepper on her food made her tongue hot. She went to the nurse twice last week. I don't know what the policy is at the school but I think they need to start reassuring Abby she is fine instead of sending her out of the classroom.

Everybody loves the school nurse. We went through this with one of my kids. They get over it. When I sub, I just send the kids down to the nurse when they want to go. I think they just need to get up and get out of class for a bit!
Corinn's teacher used to give a prize for kids that went a month without going to the nurse.
